Karla Ross Joins Softball Staff

Ross comes to Lincoln Park from Maryland Eastern Shore
CHICAGO - DePaul softball head coach Tracie Adix-Zins announced the hiring of Karla Ross as an assistant coach, Tuesday afternoon.
"I couldn't be more thrilled to welcome Karla Ross to our coaching staff," said Adix-Zins. "Her passion, expertise, and dedication to the game are not only an incredible asset to our team but also a source of immense excitement for me as we embark on this journey together."
Most recently, Ross spent the last four seasons as the head softball coach at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. In 2022, Ross led the Hawks to their first postseason berth since 2009, earning the No. 4 seed in the MEAC tournament. The Hawks had the MEAC Player of the Year and three players named All-MEAC, while Ross was also named MEAC Coach of the Year.
Ross has previous stops at George Mason, Florida Southwestern State College (NJCAA), St. Johns River State College and George Washington. While at Florida Southwestern State, Ross helped the team reach an overall record of 172-28 in three seasons, winning three Suncoast Coast Conference Championships. The team also led the nation in stolen bases (274) in 2016 .
"I am very excited to start this next chapter at DePaul," said Ross. "The long history of excellence in academics and softball is what drew me to the university. I can't wait to work alongside Coach Adix-Zins and Coach Ramirez to elevate the program to national prominence."
Ross played softball at Wisconsin and graduated in 2013. The Ashburn, Va. native was named All-Big Ten First Team in 2011 with a .313 average and 31 RBI, 10 doubles and 19 runs scored. In 2012, she was named to the Big Ten Third Team and completed her career with a .286 average, 51 runs scored and 71 RBI in 190 games.
