CHICAGO – DePaul men's soccer heads south to take on No. 2/3 Indiana on Tuesday evening at Bill Armstrong Stadium.
First touch is set for 7 p.m. CT with live streaming available on B1G+.
Setting the Scene: The Blue Demons look to play spoiler in Indiana's home opener after starting the 2023 campaign with a 1-0 win over Lindenwood last week. Callum Watts, a junior transfer, provided the spark for DePaul, scoring on a header from Diego Benitez in the 83rd minute. Four more Blue Demons logged their first collegiate minutes against the Lions including backs Alex Peters and Christian Baumgartner alongside forwards Noeh Hernandez and Liam Mullins.
The Blue Demons bring back 19 returners from a season ago including five starters while bringing in 12 newcomers to the fold.
A look at the Hoosiers: Indiana (0-0-1) enters the second week of the regular season after battling to a draw at Notre Dame in the opener. The Hoosiers, 2022 National Runner Ups, return 17 letterwinners from last season's College Cup squad while bringing in 11 newcomers including MAC Hermann Watch List Candidate Hugo Bacharach. Freshman forward Collins Oduro provided the scoring for the Hoosiers in his collegiate debut. Todd Yeagley is in his 14th season leading his alma mater.
Series History: The two squads will meet for the first time in program history on Tuesday. The Blue Demons and Hoosiers have met in the preseason in the previous two seasons.
Up Next: DePaul will return to Lincoln Park for a two-game homestand the first weekend of September. The Blue Demons will host Bradley on Friday, Sept. 1 at 3 p.m. before facing off against Northwestern on Sept. 4 at 2 p.m.
