Greta Carbone, Hannah Smith move to 6-0 in doubles action
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – It was a grueling first day of the Notre Dame Invitational for DePaul women's tennis as the Blue Demons secured just three victories in a combined 11 doubles and singles matches.
Greta Carbone and Hannah Smith proved to be the bright spot, moving to 6-0 in doubles action this fall, with a 6-4 victory over Harvard's Kavya Karra and Stephanie Yakoff.
Eleanor Nobbs bounced back after dropping the first set to pick up a three-set singles win over Kate Kim of the Crimson, 5-7, 6-2, 6-3.
Junior transfer Eva Goncharov powered through Notre Dame's Kate Bellia in three sets, 6-2, 6-7, 6-2, to pick up her second singles win of the fall.
Sasha Stula made her DePaul debut on Friday afternoon, dropping her first collegiate match in straight sets.
The Blue Demons will continue competition at Notre Dame on Saturday with a hidden dual against Kentucky scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. CT from the Courtney Tennis Center.
