Stula posts first collegiate singles victory on Saturday
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Facing a tall task in Kentucky on day two at the 2023 Notre Dame Invitational, DePaul picked up a combined four victories in 11 total matches on Saturday highlighted by freshman Sasha Stula's first collegiate singles win.Â

Stula posted a straight-set win over Notre Dame's Kate Bellia, 6-1, 6-4 just a mere 10 days after arriving to the United States from her home country of Japan.

DePaul picked up a pair of doubles victories from Eleanor Nobbs and Eva Goncharov in addition to Stula and Graduate Student Mayya Perova. Nobbs/Goncharov used a 7-6 (6) tiebreak to down Zoe Hammond and Ellie Meyers from Kentucky while Stula/Perova clinched a 6-3 triumph over Castedo and Ghosh from out of Notre Dame.

Sophomore Hannah Smith posted a singles victory against the Wildcats' Makayla Mills, 7-5, 6-0.

The Blue Demons will close out their stay at the Notre Dame Invite on Sunday with matches against Northwestern with action scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. CT from the Courtney Tennis Center.
