Goncharov Notches Singles Win in Blue Demons Opener at FIU

Junior transfer wins at No. 6 singles for first win as a Blue Demon
MIAMI – After Friday's match at Florida Gulf Coast was washed out due to inclement weather, DePaul women's tennis finally opened the 2024 dual season on Monday and fell 6-1 to reigning Conference USA Champions, Florida International.
Junior transfer Eva Goncharov was the bright spot for the Blue Demons, picking up a victory at No. 6 singles 5-7, 7-6(5), 11-9.
DePaul (0-1) couldn't quite keep pace with the Panthers in singles action with Florida International recording straight-set wins on the other five courts.
Freshman Sasha Stula made her Blue Demon debut on Monday, slotting in at No. 1 singles while grad transfer Emily Casati also played in her first dual match for DePaul.
Up Next: The Blue Demons will return to Chicago to prepare for a weekend of matches against Nebraska and Harvard in Lincoln, Neb. Jan. 26-27.
