Eleanor Nobbs Advances to Singles Main Draw

The senior quickly moves through qualifying rounds with two commanding wins

COLUMBUS, OHIO – DePaul women's tennis senior Eleanor Nobbs collected back-to-back convincing victories in ITA Midwest Regional qualifying action on Thursday, Oct. 10 to advance to the 64-player singles main competition.

Nobbs began play at the Auer Tennis Complex against Neha Guru of Toledo at 9:30 a.m. CT. Experience proved too much for the Rockets' freshman, with Nobbs tallying the win 6-2, 6-2.

Moving into the second round of qualifying at 11:30 a.m. CT, Nobbs only needed one more triumph to secure a spot in the main draw. She accomplished that in quick fashion, defeating Valparaiso's Jolene Fernandes 6-1, 6-1.

With the wins, Nobbs joins teammate Hannah Smith in the singles main draw beginning at 8:00 a.m. CT at the Auer Tennis Complex. Nobbs is matched up with Daniella Shved of Eastern Michigan. Smith is set to face Northwestern's Sydney Pratt. The duo will compete together in the doubles main draw against Pratt/Jessel of Northwestern starting at 1:00 p.m. CT.

Main draw singles start at 8:00 a.m. CT at the Auer Tennis Complex. Both Nobbs and Smith will play in the event. Doubles main draw action follows with the teammates pairing up for the competition. The first round of doubles play is slated for 1:00 p.m. CT.
