Men’s Soccer Hosts Marquette Wednesday in Home Finale

Blue Demons and Golden Eagles meet for 40th time
CHICAGO – DePaul men's soccer will play its final home game of the regular season on Wednesday, October 23 when longtime foe Marquette visits Wish Field. First touch is scheduled for 2 p.m. with live coverage carried on Marquee Sports Network.

Demon Doings
- DePaul looks to return to the win column and snap a two-match streak on Wednesday after falling 4-0 to then-No. 25 Akron on Saturday. The Blue Demons are 5-6-2 on the year and 1-3-1 in conference play.
- With three matches remaining, DePaul boasts one of the highest scoring offenses in the league and the country, netting 1.85 goals per game which ranks second in the BIG EAST and top-45 nationally.
- DePaul has scored 24 goals which is the most since the 2016 squad recorded 28 in 21 matches. Additionally, DePaul's 24 assists on its 24 goals is second in the league.
- The Blue Demons have seen contributions from a multitude of scorers, getting everyone involved in the offense with 12 unique goal scorers in 2024, the most since the 2013 season (12).
- Sophomore midfielder Noeh Hernandez has been crucial to DePaul's success finding the back of the net, contributing to over half of the Blue Demon goals on the season with six of his own, three of which were game-winners, to go along with seven assists which both lead the team.
- Hernandez's assist total is 17th in the country while his point total (19) is good for 28th. The Bridgeview, Ill. native is first in the BIG EAST in assists, second in points and ranks third in goals.
- Logan Finnegan and Keagan Pace have notched four and three goals, respectively, while Pace also has five assists to his credit. The trio has each recorded double-digit shots on the season.
- Goalkeeper Santiago Davila has started all 13 matches in net, making a league-best 53 saves.
- Wednesday will serve as the final home game for seniors Santiago Davila, Nathaniel Enriquez, Julian Saldana, Callum Watts, Jack Brennan and Logan Finnegan.
- The Golden Eagles enter the midweek match 6-5-3 in 2024 and 2-2-1 in league play after a scoreless draw against Xavier on Saturday.
- Marquette, picked fifth in the BIG EAST preseason coaches poll, won its first three matches of the 2024 campaign and has been without a win in its last four outings.
- Junior midfielder Mitar Mitrovic has been Marquette's top offensive threat with five goals and an assist on eight shots on goal.
- Goalkeeper Marten Brink owns the third-best goals against average in the conference at a .85 clip.
- David Korn is in his first season as head coach of the Marquette program after spending eight seasons leading Division II Maryville University.
- Wednesday's match will be the 40th all-time meeting between the two programs with Marquette holding a 30-7-2 edge.
- A season ago, the two teams tied 3-3 at Valley Fields in Milwaukee, Wis. Hernandez netted a brace while Liam Mullins deposited a goal for the Blue Demons.
- DePaul's last victory in the series came on Oct. 19, 2022, a 1-0 win at Wish Field by way of a penalty kick in the 78th minute.
