
DePaul Welcomes No. 4 Texas to Wintrust Arena on Sunday

Blue Demons and Longhorns tangle at 6:30 p.m. on FS1
CHICAGO – DePaul women's basketball returns to the court for its toughest test of the young 2024-25 season on Sunday, Nov. 17 when fourth-ranked Texas visits Wintrust Arena.
The non-conference matchup will be televised nationally on FS1 with Jason Ross Jr. and Kim Adams on the call. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m.

Demon Doings
DePaul is 2-1 through the first week and a half of the season after a 75-60 victory over Loyola in Rogers Park on Tuesday night, its ninth-straight win in the series with the Ramblers.
Four Blue Demons finished in double figures in the outing against Loyola, led by Meg Newman and Jorie Allen who totaled 16 points apiece inside. Freshman Angelina Smith recorded a career-high 13 points on 6-for-8 shooting from the field.
For the season, Allen is averaging a team-best 18.7 points per game while grabbing eight rebounds and shooting 56-percent from the field. Junior guard Taylor Johnson-Matthews has added 12.7 points a contest. Newman is putting up 7.7 points and 8.0 rebounds while shooting at a 55-percent clip.
The Blue Demons are out-rebounding opponents by a +9.7 margin and have crashed the offensive glass, holding a 45-22 edge and converting into 52 second chance points.
Sunday begins a rugged stretch of four games against four NCAA Tournament teams from a season ago with matchups against Green Bay, Oklahoma, and either Duke or Kansas State on the docket for the Blue Demons.
Texas Notes
The Longhorns are 2-0 on the season with victories over Southeast Missouri State and Lamar by an average margin of 55 points. Through two games, five players are averaging double figure scoring while holding a +18.5 margin on the glass.
In its first season in the SEC, Texas was selected to finish second in the league behind reigning national champions South Carolina.
2024 Big 12 Player of the Year Madison Booker returns for her sophomore season while the Longhorns also welcome back All-American guard Rori Harmon after she missed the majority of 2023-24 with injury. Texas brough in the fifth-ranked recruiting class in 2024 in addition to veteran transfers Laila Phelia (Michigan) and Kyle Oldacre (Miami).
A season ago, Texas captured the Big 12 Tournament Title and advanced to the Elite Eight. Vic Schaefer is in his fifth season leading the Longhorns program.
Series Stuff
The Blue Demons are 0-2 against Texas during the regular season. The two teams squared off in Austin in a preseason exhibition matchup in October of 2022 benefitting Uvalde CISD Moving Forward Foundation. The then-No. 3 Longhorns came away victors in the scrimmage.
DePaul and Texas last met during the regular season in December of 2007 in San Diego, Calif. The Longhorns earned a 91-81 win.
In total, the Blue Demons are 0-3 against Vic Shaefer coached teams, falling to second-seeded Mississippi State in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament in March of 2017.
The last time an SEC opponent visited Wintrust Arena was Dec 16, 2020, an 86-82 win over then-No. 9 Kentucky.
