Six Blue Demons Earn Spots on CSC Academic All-District Team

Devona, Fjeldsted, Jupp, Menser, Smyth, Soderstrom receive selections
CHICAGO – DePaul women's soccer had six players named to the College Sports Communicators' (CSC) Academic All-District Team, Tuesday afternoon. Jen Devona, Danielle Fjeldsted, Freya Jupp, Grace Menser, Beth Smyth, and Susie Soderstrom earned recognition for their academic excellence and contributions on the pitch.
Soderstrom and Smyth both earned their third-consecutive CSC Academic All-District Team selection, while Devona and Menser earned their second-straight honor. Fjeldsted and Jupp were named to the team for the first time.
Jen Devona - A senior midfielder from Barrington, Illinois, Devona logged over 2000 minutes in her career and made 43 appearances, including 18 starts this season. A two-time BIG EAST All-Academic Team honoree, Devona is set to graduate this spring with a degree in Health Sciences, concentrating in Medical Biosciences, with minors in General Psychology and Spanish.
Danielle Fjeldsted - A sophomore forward, Fjeldsted logged 1700 minutes this season and scored her first collegiate goal in the Blue Demons' 2-1 win against Green Bay. The Hawthorn Woods, Ill. native is pursuing a degree in Finance with a minor in Accounting.
Freya Jupp - Jupp, a junior forward from Portsmouth, England, was named to the All-BIG EAST Third Team earlier this month, played in all 20 games this season, and made 14 starts. She led the team in points (15), goals (6), and shots on goal (12), and earned her first CSC Academic All-District honor while working toward a bachelor's degree in Psychology.
Grace Menser - A junior defender from Commerce Township, Michigan, Menser started in 17 matches this season, and logged over 1200 minutes and contributing one assist and three shots on goal. Menser is majoring in Marketing with a concentration in Sales Leadership.
Beth Smyth - Smyth, a fifth-year senior and team captain, appeared in 71 matches with 69 starts for DePaul. Recently named to the All-BIG EAST Third Team, she scored three goals this season, including the game-winner against No. 18 Georgetown. Smyth graduated with a degree in Economics in 2024 and will complete her master's in Economic and Quantitative Analysis this June.
Susie Soderstrom - Soderstrom, a senior forward from Carmel, Indiana, made 70 appearances for the Blue Demons, with 49 starts and over 4,000 minutes logged. She scored five goals and tallied three assists in her collegiate career, including the game-winner in DePaul's 1-0 win against UIC. Soderstrom is a Finance major with a minor in Accounting.
To be eligible for selection to the 2024 Academic All-District Women's Soccer Team, chosen by College Sports Communicators, a student-athlete must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher and serve as either a starter or a significant reserve for their team.
Academic All-District honorees will advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, where first-, second-, and third-team selections will be announced in early December.
