DePaul Set to Open 2024-25 Season

Chris Holtmann era officially begins Monday night
CHICAGO – The DePaul men's basketball team kicks off its 2024-25 season, Monday night, in a matchup against Southern Indiana at Wintrust Arena. Tipoff for Chris Holtmann's first game at the helm of the Blue Demons is set for 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on FS1 as part of the BIG EAST Opening Night whip around coverage, and can be seen in its entirety on FoxSports.com with Chris Vosters and Nick Bahe on the call. Zach Zaidman and Dave Corzine will have the radio broadcast on DePaulBlueDemons.com.
PREVIEWING THE BLUE DEMONS
The Blue Demons 2024-25 roster features a group of entirely new faces, with 14 newcomers, including four freshmen. The Blue Demons are led by a pair of experienced graduate transfers in Isaiah Rivera and David Skogman. Rivera led UIC last season in scoring with 14.7 points per game, while shooting 41.6 percent from three-point range. The Geneseo, Ill. native also ranked second on the Flames squad in rebounding with 4.2 per game. Skogman played in 17 games last season for Davidson where he averaged 9.4 points per game and shot a team-best 41.9 percent from three.
EXHIBITION RUNDOWN
DePaul had its lone exhibition of the season on Oct. 27 where they faced off against DIII Illinois Wesleyan in a 76-60 win. Layden Blocker and Jacob Meyer led DePaul in the exhibition contest with 19 points apiece. Blocker also added four rebounds, three steals and a pair of assists.
NEW HEAD OF THE BENCH
DePaul officially hired head men's basketball coach Chris Holtmann on March 14, 2024. Holtmann quickly got to work establishing his staff, which includes former Division 1 head coaches in LaVall Jordan and Jack Owens. Holtmann brings over a decade of head coaching experience to DePaul, including nine 20+ win seasons and a 2017 Sweet Sixteen appearance.
THE OPPONENT
Southern Indiana begins its third season as a Division 1 program in the first all-time meeting against DePaul. USI was picked to finish eighth in the preseason coaches poll in the Ohio Valley Conference with a roster that features 11 newcomers.
The Screaming Eagles are led by Stan Gouard who begins his fifth season at the helm of his alma mater. Gouard was previously at UIndy for 12 years where he led the program to eight NCAA Tournaments.

DePaul continues a seven-game homestand to open the season on Thursday, Nov. 7 when the Blue Demons welcome Prairie View A&M to Wintrust Arena. The game is slated for a 7pm tip on FS1.
