DePaul plays second game in opening week of season
CHICAGO – Following a thrilling season-opening win Monday evening, the DePaul men's basketball team quickly turns its attention to Prairie View A&M for a Thursday night contest at Wintrust Arena. The game is slated for a 7 p.m. tip on FS1 with Chris Vosters and Dickey Simpkins on the call. Zach Zaidman and Dave Corzine will have the radio call on DePaulBlueDemons.com.
LAST TIME OUT
DePaul (1-0) secured an overtime victory against Southern Indiana in Chris Holtmann's Blue Demon debut. A pair of 20-point scorers, Isaiah Rivera and Jacob Meyer, led the Blue Demons with 25 and 23 points, respectively. Rivera opened the game red hot, with 20 first half points and five made three-pointers.
Meyer showed no slowing down in his DePaul debut, extending his record of double-digit scoring games to 29 in 32 games played. The sophomore has a career 15.9 scoring average and is a 40.5 percent three-point shooter. David Skogman also had a strong debut with his 10th career double-double, notching 13 points and 10 rebounds.
SCOUTING DEPAUL
DePaul's roster features seven players who have attempted more than 75 career three-pointers, and among those seven they have a field goal percentage of 39.24 from deep. The group of seven is led by graduate students Rivera and Skogman. Skogman ranks top 20 among all active players, and is second nationally for those listed at the forward position with a 40.7 career three-point percentage. The Blue Demons shooting prowess was on full display in the season opener where DePaul made 14 three-pointers, the most in a season opener since the program joined the BIG EAST.
THE OPPONENT
Prairie View A&M comes into Wintrust following a season-opening win of their own on Monday over College of Biblical Studies, 111-90. The Panthers had a trio of 20-point scorers, led by Orlando Horton Jr. who notched 28 points and six assists. The team had a total of five double-digit scorers and tallied 10 steals.
Byron Smith is in his ninth season with Prairie View A&M's program and fifth full season as the head coach. Smith has led the program to a pair of SWAC regular season championships and the 2019 SWAC Tournament title. The Panthers were selected seventh in the SWAC preseason poll, receiving one first place vote.

DePaul's homestand continues as the Blue Demons host Mercer on Nov. 11. The game will serve as DePaul's Veteran's Day Salute to Service, where active-duty military and veterans may participate in an on-court recognition and receive two complimentary tickets. Monday's game will tip at 8pm on FS2.
