CHICAGO - DePaul softball alumna Nicole (Terpstra) Wondaal has been inducted into the 2024 Summit League Hall of Fame. Wondaal continues to hold the league's all-time career ERA mark at 0.98 and racked up 93 wins, which are second most all-time in the league. DePaul participated as a member of the Summit League (formerly the Mid-Continent Conference) from 1992 to 1999.
"I'm grateful for my family and for my parents, who saw gifts in me and my three siblings. They challenged and supported each of us endlessly, said Wondaal. "Being inducted to the Summit League Hall of Fame is an unexpected and unbelievable honor. The league is full of amazing student-athletes, past and present, and to even be considered for this honor is beyond anything I imagined.
"I could never have experienced any level of success without all the wonderful people surrounding me during my time at DePaul. I'm forever grateful for my DePaul family."
As a senior at DePaul, Wondaal led her team to a third-place finish at the Women's College World Series, including a 1-0 upset over second-ranked Arizona.
The Dyer, Indiana native remains in the top five in 10 of 14 defensive categories in the DePaul softball record book, including second in complete games, with 105, and second in earned run average, recording an impressive 0.98.
Wondaal was a four-time Mid-Continent Conference Pitcher of the Year winner from 1996 to 1999. She was tabbed as the conference Newcomer of the Year in 1996, and also tallied first team Mid-Continent All-Conference recognition for all four years she played as a Blue Demon.
Wondaal was previously inducted into the DePaul Athletics Hall of Fame in 2017, and she continues to reside in Indiana with her husband Mike, and three children, Jackson, Emmitt, and Maya.
