DePaul welcomes eleven competing schools for fourth annual event
CHICAGO – DePaul track and field is set to host the fourth rendition of the Blue Demon Holiday Classic on Friday, Dec. 13, at Gately Park. Field events begin at 2 p.m. CT, with running events to follow at 5 p.m. CT. Fans can follow live results here.
Admission is free to all fans for the Blue Demon Holiday Classic.
Eleven schools will compete alongside DePaul, including Chicago State, Elmhurst, Indiana State, LeMoyne-Owen, Loyola Chicago, Milwaukee, North Central College, Olive-Harvey, Purdue, Purdue Northwest, and UIC.
Making their Blue Demon track and field debut are Sade Miller, Amaru Mazibuko, John Bush, and Ashley Noel. DePaul athletes will participate in events including the 600m, 400m, 300m, 60m, 4x400m relay, as well as field events such as the weight throw, shot put, long jump, triple jump, and high jump.
DePaul opened the 2024-25 season with a strong showing at the Blue & Gold Invite in South Bend, Ind., last week. The Blue Demons claimed five first-place finishes, highlighted by senior Darius Brown and graduate student Dustin Hudak breaking school records in their respective events. Additional standout performances included Kash Allen winning the women's weight throw, Tyce Smith taking gold in the men's 400m, and Claire Dunn finishing third in the women's 300m.
DePaul excelled at last year's Blue Demon Holiday Invite, with standout performances across multiple events. Brown set a school record in the men's 60-meter hurdles with a time of 7.71, while Allen claimed victory in the women's shot put (14.36m), and Alex Bernstein broke the meet record in the men's weight throw (20.21m). Dunn added to the success by winning the women's 300m dash (39.29), and the men's 4x400 relay team capped the day with a first-place finish in 3:16.29.
