DePaul Snowballs Momentum in Holiday Classic

Blue Demons compete for final time in 2024
CHICAGO – DePaul track and field concluded its first home meet of the season, the Blue Demon Holiday Classic, on Friday evening. DePaul wrapped up a gifted performance Friday, earning three meet records and 13 personal records across 10 events.
In the women's field events, DePaul continued to impress with multiple personal bests and first-place finishes. Sophomore transfer Olivia Austin secured a PR in the women's weight throw, recording a distance of 14.73m. Kash Allen claimed first place in the women's shot put for the second consecutive meet, breaking the Blue Demon Holiday Classic record with a throw of 15.51m. Laila Richardson and Austin also achieved personal records in the shot put. Freshman Ashley Noel highlighted the women's jumps with a personal record of 5.63m in the long jump, while Jaiah Hopf earned gold in the triple jump.
On the track, Sade Miller opened the women's events with a third-place finish in the 60m Dash Prelims, followed by a PR in the Finals. In the 300m Dash, Jetta Mays and Maia Mays each ran sub-41-second times, securing second and fifth place, respectively. Claire Dunn and Nadja Moll led the Blue Demons in the 400m Dash, finishing just one second apart in the top three. Senior Sonja Nagle claimed bronze in the 600m with a time of 1:33.12. The women's 4x400m relay team—M. Mays, Moll, Nagle, and Dunn—dominated the final event, taking first place.
In the men's field events, freshman Jaiden Gary achieved a personal record of 17.12m in the shot put, earning third place. Junior transfer Quinton Boyd also set a PR, placing sixth with a throw of 14.64m.
On the track, Amaru Mazibuko and Demetrius Rolle earned PRs in the 60m Prelims, clocking times of 7.03 and 6.84, respectively. Darius Brown matched his previous best of 6.75 in the 60m Dash, which had been a meet record until it was surpassed four times during the event. In the Finals, Brown hit the 6.75 mark again, falling just one-hundredth of a second short of DePaul's school record. Rolle set another personal record in the Finals with a time of 6.81. Joshua Edmonds led the Blue Demons in the 400m Dash with a gold-medal finish and a season best. The men's 600m event saw John Bush secure second place, while Jack Ward earned a PR and fourth place, to cap the evening in Chicago.
