Blue Demons Welcome UNLV to Wintrust Arena

CHICAGO – DePaul women's basketball faces a seventh team from last season's NCAA Tournament field on Sunday when UNLV visits Wintrust Arena for a non-conference matchup. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. with live coverage carried on Marquee Sports Network.

Demon Doings
DePaul (4-7) returned to the win column on Friday evening with a 73-56 victory over crosstown rival UIC to kick off a stretch of three games in five days.

Jorie Allen led the Blue Demons with a career-high 27 points on 78-percent (11-14) shooting against the Flames. It was Allen's 11th double-digit performance to start the season as the forward inched closer to the 1,000-point milestone with 11 points to go. The graduate student ranks fourth in the BIG EAST with 18.8 points per game.

Four Blue Demons finished in double figures for just the second time this season as Taylor Johnson Matthews (12 points), Meg Newman (10 points) and Angelina Smith (10 points) supported the balanced attack.

As a team, DePaul's defense forced 20 or more opponent turnovers for the third time in four games on Friday night and sixth time this season.

DePaul's strength of schedule through 11 games ranks 10th in nation.

The Rebels are 6-3 headed into the final stretch of out of league play and are coming off a 71-64 loss at Baylor last Sunday. DePaul and UNLV have one common opponent this season, as the Rebels lost to then-No. 9 Oklahoma 88-58 on Nov. 22.

Backcourt duo Kiara Jackson and Amarachi Kimpson average a team-best 13.0 points per game to lead UNLV. Jackson's assist to turnover ratio of 3.44 ranks 10th in Division I.

Lindy La Rocque is in her fifth season leading the UNLV program. The Rebels have won three Mountain West titles in her time in Las Vegas. Â
