DePaul Meets Marquette on Tuesday at Wintrust Arena

The Blue Demons will join in the BIG EAST's celebration of Black History Month by partnering with the Black Fives Foundation, which honors the pre-professional achievements of African Americans in basketball. The Blue Demons will represent the Club Store Co-Eds, a team formed in the South Side of Chicago in 1930.
Noting the Blue Demons
DePaul (12-14, 4-9 BIG EAST) looks to even the season series with the Golden Eagles after a lopsided loss at the Al McGuire Center in January. The Blue Demons are coming off a setback to No. 21 Creighton on Saturday afternoon where three players finished in double figures led by a 17-point, nine-rebound effort from Anaya Peoples.
Peoples was named BIG EAST Player of the Week for the first time in her career on Monday. She averaged 22.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.5 steals, 1.5 blocks and .615 shooting in a 1-1 week for the Blue Demons For the season, she is sixth in the league in scoring and fifth in rebounding.
Forward Jorie Allen is averaging 12.8 points and 6.0 rebounds through the last five games. Allen has finished in double figures three of the last four games and her season free-throw percentage of 88.8 percent leads the BIG EAST and is 20th nationally. Against Creighton, she made a career-best nine free throws on 10 attempts.
The Blue Demons continue to lead the league in steals with 10.2 per contest while forcing a BIG EAST-best 18.1 opponent turnovers an outing.
Scouting Marquette
The Golden Eagles are 18-6 on the season and 7-6 in league play after a three-point loss to Villanova at home on Saturday. Three players are averaging double figures led by Liza Karlen's 18.2 points per game to go with 7.5 rebounds per game. Guards Mackenzie Hare and Jordan King are good for 14.5 and 13.6 ppg, respectively.
Marquette hits the glass hard, winning the rebounding battle in 21 of 24 games this season, averaging 36.8 rebounds per game. Head coach Megan Duffy and the Golden Eagles currently sit in fifth in the BIG EAST Conference standings and were picked to finish third in the Preseason Coaches Poll.
Series Stuff
The Blue Demons lead the all-time series 49-36 against the Golden Eagles including a 23-18 mark since the two sides joined the BIG EAST. Marquette has won four in a row in the rivalry including the 78-47 triumph last month. DePaul's last win at home versus Marquette came in February of the 2022 season, an 11-point victory at Wintrust Arena.

DePaul will hit the road for the third-straight weekend when the Blue Demons travel East to take on Seton Hall on Saturday, Feb. 17. The lone regular season matchup between the two teams this season is set to begin at 12 p.m. CST on the BIG EAST Digital Network/FloHoops.
