Blue Demons Take Down Illinois State

Women’s tennis jumps back over .500
CHICAGO – DePaul women's tennis remained unbeaten at home with a 4-3 win over Illinois State on Sunday afternoon at XS Tennis Village. With the victory, the Blue Demons improved to 6-5 this spring and 4-0 on their home court.
DePaul started the outing with a dominant performance in doubles action with Eva Goncharov and Eleanor Nobbs picking up a decisive 6-0 win on court three before Sasha Stula and Greta Carbone teamed up for the first time this dual season to give DePaul the 1-0 advantage with a 6-1 win on court three.
Goncharov continued the momentum for the Blue Demons moving to 4-2 this spring with a decisive 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 6 over Illinois State's Zoe Limparis.
The Redbirds added a tally on the board after Sasha Stula fell 1-6, 2-6 at No. 2, but it wasn't long before the Blue Demons answered.
Carbone won at No. 4 by a score of 6-4, 7-5 before Emily Casati clinched the match on court five, coming back after a shaky set one to take sets two and three, 2-6, 6-4, 6-1.
After DePaul had claimed the match, the Redbirds secured victories on courts three and one to make the final tally 4-3.
