Blue Demons Drop Heartbreaker Against Georgetown

CHICAGO – DePaul men's basketball team dropped a heartbreaker in the final minute against Georgetown Saturday evening, 77-76. DePaul (3-24, 0-16 BIG EAST) was led by a trio of scorers who all notched 16 points in Da'Sean Nelson, Jalen Terry and Elijah Fisher. Jaden Henley also contributed 15 points and a team-high six rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After Georgetown (9-18, 2-14 BIG EAST) took a 41-28 lead into halftime, DePaul scored a quick 10 unanswered points to flip the script and erase the Hoyas lead. Jalen Terry gave the Blue Demon's their first lead of the game on a pair of free throws, 49-48. Georgetown took back the lead on a three-pointer before entering a back-and-forth affair that would ultimately see six ties and six lead changes.
A pair of three-pointers by Terry and K.T. Raimey helped DePaul build its largest lead of the game, 61-57. With less than three minutes to go, Georgetown took the lead back on a jumper before forcing a DePaul turnover for a 73-69 lead. The Blue Demons quickly answered with layups by Chico Carter Jr. and Da'Sean Nelson for a 76-75 lead with 0:26 left to play. Georgetown sank a pair of free throws as DePaul's final shot missed at the rim.
OF NOTE
- DePaul used its ninth different starting lineup of the season.
- DePaul notched a season-high 12 steals, the most takeaways in a single game for the Blue Demons since December 30, 2019 against Seton Hall.
- Terry recorded his 15th-consecutive game with a made three-pointer and surpassed 100 career three-pointers.
- Henley tied a season-high six rebounds, one off from his all-time best.

DePaul takes to the road for a midweek contest against Xavier, Wednesday, Feb. 28. The game will tip off at 6 p.m. on FS2.
