Blue Demons Host No. 15/13 Connecticut on Sunday

DePaul to retire Diana Vines jersey pregame
CHICAGO – DePaul women's basketball returns to action for the first time in eight days when No. 15/13 Connecticut visits Wintrust Arena on Sunday, February 25. Tipoff is slated for 5 p.m. CST with Dave Ryan and Julianne Viani-Braen on the call for CBS Sports Network.

Prior to the contest, the Blue Demons will honor all-time great Diana Vines with a jersey retirement. Vines, a letterwinner from 1985-89, remains DePaul basketball's all-time leading scorer, men or women, while holding five more career-records. The ceremony is set to begin at 4:40 p.m.

Noting the Blue Demons
DePaul faces Connecticut after falling to Seton Hall a week ago in South Orange. The Blue Demons are 12-16 overall and 4-11 in BIG EAST action and currently sit in 10th place in the league standings.

Graduate student guard Anaya Peoples has continued to pace DePaul with 18.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per contest. Peoples has 12 20-point outings to her credit this season including a 25-point, 10-rebound performance against the Pirates the last time out.

Jorie Allen has a been a steadying presence for the Blue Demons, posting her best numbers in her four seasons in Chicago. In the last five games, the graduate student is averaging 14.2 points and 6.8 boards.

DePaul's defensive pressure has caused problems for opposing teams as it leads the conference in steals (10.2 spg) and turnovers forced (18.07 per game).

Scouting the Huskies
15th-ranked UConn is 23-5 on the season and unbeaten 15-0 in league play. The Huskies are coming off a 20-point win over No. 21 Creighton on Monday.

Redshirt-junior Paige Bueckers leads the scoring effort with an average of 20.1 points which ranks second in the conference. Aaliyah Edwards follows closely behind with 18.1 points per game to go along with 9.2 rebounds.

As a team, UConn leads the league in scoring at 81.8 points per game and sharing with 20.2 assists per contest.

The Huskies lead the all-time series 24-1. The last time the two teams met, Connecticut won in an 88-51 decision. Maeve McErlane had a team-high 15 points in the outing.
