Blue Demons win their third-straight match
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. - DePaul women's tennis won their third-straight match, defeating BIG EAST foe Butler, 5-2, Sunday afternoon.
DePaul (8-5) jumped out to an early lead after earning the doubles point. Graduate students Emily Casati and Yuliya Kizelbasheva took a 6-0 win on the No. 1 court for the second consecutive match. On the No. 3 court, Eva Goncharov and Eleanor Nobbs took a 6-3 victory to put DePaul up 1-0.
In singles play, four Blue Demons won their matchups. Nobbs won her second consecutive match on the No. 1 singles court, taking down Boesing in three sets, 6-3, 6-7 (4), 6-4.
Casati notched her seventh-straight victory, earning the win on the fifth court, 6-4, 4-6, 7-5.
Greta Carbone grabbed her fifth-straight win in dual play, winning on the fourth court in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1. Eva Goncharov took a victory on the No. 6 court in a third set tiebreaker, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (5).
Butler (8-6) grabbed points on the No. 2 and 3 singles courts, earning both in straight sets.
Up Next: DePaul will head to Madison, Wis. next Saturday, March 2 to take on Boise State. The match is set to begin at 2:00 P.M CST. The Wisconsin Badgers play host to the Blue Demons on Sunday, March 3 with first serve at 11:30 A.M CST.
