DePaul Visits Georgetown to Tipoff February

Blue Demons and Hoyas meet at 1 p.m. CST
Washington, DC – DePaul women's basketball continues its two-game road swing on Sunday, Feb. 4 with a visit to our Nation's Capital to take on Georgetown. The second matchup of the season between the two programs is set to tipoff at 1 p.m. CST from McDonough Arena. FloHoops will stream the contest with Dorian Craft and Monika Moore on the call.
Noting the Blue Demons
DePaul (11-12, 3-7 BIG EAST) looks to start the pivotal month of February off on the right foot on Sunday after snapping a three-game skid on Wednesday with a 67-57 win over Butler at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
Four Blue Demons posted double figures in the victory with Anaya Peoples recording her 10th 20-point performance of the season with a game-high 24 points. Jorie Allen added 12 points and seven rebounds with Michelle Sidor and Maeve McErlane chipping in 10 points apiece.
Peoples leads DePaul in a number of categories this season including scoring (18.0 ppg), rebounding (7.7), assists (3.3) and blocks (1.0). The graduate student has scored in double figures in 20 of 22 appearances in 2023-24
Allen follows with average of 10.3 points and 6.4 rebounds while her free throw-percentage of 91-percent (61-67) is ninth in Division I and first among all BIG EAST players.
As a team, DePaul leads the conference in steals with 10.5 takeaways and rebounds with 39.5 per game. The Blue Demons are third in assists and scoring offense.
Scouting the Hoyas
Georgetown (14-7, 4-6) has lost three in a row including a 17-point decision at Seton Hall on Wednesday. Senior guard Kelsey Ransom shoulders a big load for the Hoyas, leading the team in points with 14.6 per game in addition to assists (4.2), steals (2.1) and minutes played (35.1). Veteran forward Graceann Bennett has provided a lift inside averaging 10.2 points and a team-best 7.1 rebounds per game while shooting 54-percent from the field.
The Hoyas pride themselves on their defense, allowing just 55.0 points per game which is top-20 nationally while holding nine opponents to 50 or less points.
Series Stuff
The Blue Demons have historically dominated the series with the Hoyas, leading by a 28-5 margin, but Georgetown has won the last two meetings. DePaul is 12-2 in games played in McDonough Arena.
In the first matchup this season, Georgetown left Chicago with a 66-62 win on Dec. 31 at Wintrust Arena. The Hoyas started hot and finished strong, posting a combined +18 margin in the first and fourth quarters. Three Blue Demons scored in double figures led by Peoples' team-high 21 points. Allen flirted with a triple double behind 13 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists in addition to five steals.
