Blue Demons host Miami (OH), Northern Illinois and Chicago State at XS Tennis
CHICAGO – For the first time this season, DePaul women's tennis will play in front of the home faithful. The Blue Demons will match up with Miami (OH) and conclude the weekend taking on in-state foes Northern Illinois and Chicago State.
DePaul and Miami (OH) meet for the first time in program history. First serve is set for Friday, Feb. 9 at 12:30 P.M. CST at XS Tennis Village. After a day off, the Blue Demons host a doubleheader on Sunday, Feb. 11. The first match begins at 10:00 A.M. CST against Northern Illinois with Chicago State following at 2:30 P.M. CST. The XS Tennis Village will be the site for all Blue Demons home matches this season.
DePaul (2-4) returns from Florida after picking up its first two victories in back-to-back fashion against Florida Gulf Coast and Georgia State. In the Blue Demons 4-2 win over the Eagles, No. 6 singles, Emily Casati notched a decisive 6-3, 6-1 triumph. Casati's performance boosted her to court five against the Panthers in the following match, winning 6-3, 6-4 over Luciania Galvez elevating the Scarlet and Blue to a 4-1 match win. In doubles play, Yuliya Kizelbasheva and Casati improved to a perfect 3-0 on court two.
Miami (OH) comes into play 3-4 after two-straight road losses to Marshall and Virginia Tech. Prior to the setback, the RedHawks were on a tear, winning three straight matches without losing a point. Head Coach Ricardo Rosas is in his seventh season with the RedHawks. Rosas won the MAC Coach of the Year in 2022.
Northern Illinois has split its first four games of the season with wins over Marquette and Bellarmine. Head Coach Eric Burns is in his fifth season at the helm leading the Huskies to a 17-11 record two seasons ago. Northern Illinois has yet to beat DePaul in eight matches dating back to 2008. Most recently, the Huskies lost 6-1 on Feb. 13, 2022.
Chicago State (2-6) enters this weekend coming off a home loss to Valparaiso. Head Coach of both the men's and women's tennis programs, Jack Barton directed the women's tennis team to its best season since the beginning of his tenure in the 2010-11 campaign. No. 6 singles, Nia Cooper is 5-1 to begin the season.

After a weekend at home, the Blue Demons will make the short trip to Notre Dame on Friday, Feb. 16. First serve is set for 2:30 p.m. CST.
