Women’s Tennis Topples Georgetown 6-1

Casati and Carbone extend win streaks in dominating win
CHICAGO – DePaul women's tennis remained unbeaten at home this season with a 6-1 victory over Georgetown at XS Tennis on Friday afternoon.
The Blue Demons raced by the Hoyas in doubles action, surrendering just one game between courts two and three, before the two sides engaged in a battle in singles play with three courts going to three sets.
Emily Casati and Yuliya Kizelbasheva moved to 9-2 at No. 2 doubles and earned their seventh win in a row with a 6-1 victory while Mayya Perova and Eleanor Nobbs teamed up for the first time this season and found success, blanking the Hoya tandem on court three, 6-0.
Casati and Greta Carbone extended notable win streaks with singles victories on the afternoon. Casati won the final match of the day at No. 5 singles, 6-2, 7-5, 6-4, to win her team-best 10th-consecutive match while Carbone picked up her eighth-straight victory with a straight-set win on court three.
Kizelbasheva surrendered just three games in a dominant performance at No. 4, 6-2, 6-3.
DePaul (11-6) was forced to play the long game with courts one and two each going to a decisive third set. After dropping the first set, junior Eleanor Nobbs turned around to claim the next two to improve to 5-2 at No. 2 singles this season.
Hannah Smith stayed the course in an up and down match at No. 1, eventually picking up her sixth victory at the top spot in 2024, 6-2, 0-6, 7-5.
Georgetown (5-11) picked up a win at No. 6 singles with Paige Gilbert getting the best of freshman Sasha Stula 7-6, 7-6.

The Blue Demons return home on Saturday, March 23 to host Creighton at XS Tennis Village. First serve is set for 12:30 p.m. CST. The match will serve as the program's alumni day as well as honor alumnus Natalie Matko Jackson.
