Women's Tennis Set to Face Marquette

Blue Demons and Golden Eagles meet at 6 p.m. CST
CHICAGO – DePaul women's tennis will travel via I-94 to Milwaukee for a BIG EAST clash against Marquette, Friday night.
The Blue Demons have won 20 of 24 meetings with the Golden Eagles in program history. In the last match,, DePaul swept Marquette with a 7-0 victory during the 2022-23 campaign. Yuliya Kizelbasheva and Hannah Smith each earned singles wins in the No. 1 and 2 spots, respectively. First serve is set for 6:00 P.M. CST at North Shore Elite in Glendale, Wisconsin.
DePaul (9-6) went 1-1 last weekend in Madison, Wis. The Blue Demons picked up a 4-3 victory against Boise State, Saturday, March 2. In singles play, graduate student Mayya Perova made her first appearance in dual action this season. No. 5 singles, Emily Casati earned a straight-set win 6-4, 6-3, to claim her eighth-consecutive victory. Senior Greta Carbone clinched the match for the Blue Demons with a 7-5, 7-5 triumph on court four. Carbone enters the meeting with Marquette at 6-3 during the dual season.
In doubles action, Casati and counterpart Yuliya Kizelbasheva tallied a 6-2 victory on court two. The tandem of Carbone and Hannah Smith followed suit with a 6-4 match advantage to secure the doubles point in the No. 1 spot.
The Scarlet and Blue squared up with No. 24 Wisconsin on Sunday, but ultimately dropped the match 4-0. A bright spot for the Blue Demons was another win for the duo of Casati and Kizelbasheva. The pair defeated the Badgers' Xinyu Cai and Ellison Reynoldson 6-3. The 2-0 weekend earned the pair, BIG EAST Doubles Team of the Week Honors and moved their winning streak to four matches.
Marquette (2-11) enters Friday's contest on a four-game slide. Last time out, the Golden Eagles fell to Illinois State 6-1. Tiera Jarmond picked up the lone point for Marquette on court six. Jarmond posts a 3-2 dual season record in that position. Jud Shaufler is in his 14th season with the Marquette tennis program.

The Blue Demons will be back in action following a two-week hiatus on Friday, March 22 against Georgetown. The match is slated for 12:30 P.M. CST at XS Tennis Village.
