The Blue Demon Earns Seventh in the Championship Finals
CHICAGO – DePaul track and field's Darius Brown caps off his indoor season with a First Team All-American accolade and a seventh place finish in the NCAA Indoor men's 60m hurdle championship final, Saturday afternoon.Â
"It has been a phenomenal indoor campaign for Darius," said assistant coach Stephanie Williams. "From repeatedly breaking his 60-meter hurdles school record, owning the BIG EAST Conference 60 meter-hurdles record, winning the BIG EAST 60 meter hurdles Championship and earning All-American Honors in the NCAA Indoor 60-meter hurdles championship; it truly has been amazing to witness all of his hard work pay off. I couldn't be more proud of him. He's a junior, so he will be back! We are looking forward to the outdoor campaign where he and the rest of his teammates aim to feed off of his success and continue to elevate our program. There is so much more success on the way for this team and I'm so excited for what's to come."The Blue Demon ran a final time of 7.73 in the championship. Yesterday, Brown's 7.63 time earned him the fifth qualifying spot, becoming DePaul Track and Field's twelfth All-American.Â
UP NEXT: Brown heads back to Chicago to prepare for the upcoming outdoor season beginning on March 15, with UCF's Black and Gold Invitational in Orlando, Fla.Â
