DePaul Collects Four BIG EAST Titles, Men’s 4x400m Relay Breaks Record

The Blue Demons head back to Chicago with six titles in total
CHICAGO – DePaul track and field finished its last day of the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships, Saturday evening. The women's team brought home third place overall after collecting a total of 134 points while the men claimed fourth with 85.5 points.
Throughout the day, multiple Blue Demons stepped onto the podium, including three athletes who received their first-ever BIG EAST Outdoor titles and one school record breaking relay team.
The first athlete to be crowned Champion in their event was Darius Brown in the men's 110m hurdles. He achieved a final time of 13.92 and stood on the podium alongside his teammate, Paul Goins who secured the third place spot with a final time of 13.92.
Brown won another title soon after in the men's 400m hurdles with an epic come from behind victory against Georgetown's Nicholas Givan, running a final time of 51.25.
Kash Allen dominated the women's shot put, winning her first BIG EAST Outdoor title with a final mark of 15.16m. Jetta Mays won the women's 200 to round out the day's victors with a final time of 23.94.
Many athletes received silver in their events, including the school record breaking relay squad made up of Brown, Daniel Fasasi, Charles Lewis and Jarel Terry. The team downed the men's 4x400m relay record from last year with a new time of 3:09.48.
The men's 4x100m relay team also received second in their event. The squad, made up of Brown, Lewis, Dominic Cole and Cameron Attucks ran a time of 40.68. Brown went on to win the Men's BIG EAST Most Outstanding Performer award for all of his achievements on the oval.
Claire Dunn took second in the women's 400m after running a final time of 54.53. On the field, Jessica Beckman placed second in the women's discus after throwing a final mark of 48.76m and Jaiah Hopf took home silver in the triple jump with a final mark of 12.34m.
Fasasi earned another second place medal in the men's 400 with a final time of 47.24 and in the women's 100m, J. Mays earned silver with a final time of 11.84. On the men's side, Cole placed second in both the men's 100m and 200m, running final times 10.48 and 21.28 respectively.
The women's 4x800m relay, made up of Isabella Orozco, Olivia Borowiak, Meghan Dieball, and Alexa Havon placed third with a final time of 8:48.21 to close out the awards.
