All-conference catcher signs with DePaul
CHICAGO – DePaul softball added a proven winner to the 2024-25 roster on Thursday with the signing of catcher/infielder Madelyn Wilson. A junior transfer from Saint Francis, Wilson lands in Chicago with two seasons of eligibility remaining.
"Madelyn is a spark plug. A defensive master behind the plate" said head coach Liz Bouck-Jagielski. "She comes to DePaul with NCAA Tournament experience as a first team all-conference selection and two-year starter at Saint Francis (Pa.)."
In two seasons with the Red Flash, Wilson appeared in 74 games and made 69 starts splitting time behind the plate and at second base. In her freshman campaign, Wilson was named a First-Team All-Northeast Conference selection and honored on the All-Rookie team. The 2022-23 season saw Wilson hit .266 while driving in seven runs and crossing the plate nine times herself.
As a sophomore, the Friendswood, Texas native helped Saint Francis claim the NEC conference title and earn a berth to the NCAA Tournament, going 41-14 on the season including a perfect 27-0 record in league play. Wilson made 30 starts in 2023-24 and tallied 11 RBIs, including a walk-off solo home run in the conference opener against Le Moyne. Behind the plate, she threw out 7-of-26 stolen bases attempted.
At Friendswood High School, Wilson was a four-year starting catcher, earning All-District honors on three occasions. In her senior year, she was selected Defensive Player of the Year while claiming Academic All-District accolades.
Wilson plans to pursue a degree in Exercise Science.
