CHICAGO – DePaul men's soccer head coach Mark Plotkin has signed a contract extension that will keep him in Lincoln Park through January of 2028, Vice President and Director of Athletics DeWayne Peevy announced on Wednesday. Plotkin, a 2010 DePaul graduate, concluded his seventh season leading his alma mater last fall.
Since taking over the reins of the program in 2018, Plotkin has established a winning culture on and off the pitch with each season showcasing heightened athletic and academic achievement.
The Blue Demons are coming off their most successful season in Plotkin's tenure after earning a bid to the BIG EAST Tournament for the first time since 2016. DePaul posted an overall record of 6-8-3 in 2024 while going 2-4-2 in BIG EAST play.
DePaul's non-conference slate was highlighted by a season-opening win over UIC and the program's first win over Loyola Chicago since 2013. Conference action saw the Blue Demons earn a draw against Xavier and pick up victories against Creighton and Butler on the road to finish third in the league's Midwest Division, its highest conference finish in the divisional format.
The Blue Demons scored 32 goals in 2024, the most by any DePaul team in 30 years while its 13 unique goal scorers were the most since at least 2002. 31 of the 32 goals scored were assisted.
Plotkin has seen five Blue Demons combine for nine All-BIG EAST selections while sophomore Noeh Hernandez was honored BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year in 2024, the program's first conference major award since 2007.
In the classroom, the Blue Demons have earned United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award six of the last seven years and have collected 120 BIG EAST All-Academic certificates. Last fall, men's soccer combined for a cumulative 3.37 grade-point average.
Community involvement has become a pillar of Plotkin's program as the Blue Demons earned the 2024 community service cup at the department's year-end award ceremony for its work with the youth of Urban Initiatives.
As a player, Plotkin aided the Blue Demons to four-straight appearances in the BIG EAST Tournament and a bid to the NCAA Tournament in 2007. He appeared in 77 matches which remains sixth-most in program history.
