
Blue Demons Face Butler on the Road

INDIANAPOLIS – DePaul men's basketball looks to get back on track with a Saturday, Jan. 25 road contest at Butler. The game is slated for a 3 p.m. CT tip from Hinkle Fieldhouse with Chris Lewis and Chris Walker on the call from FS1. Zach Zaidman and Dave Corzine will have DePaul's radio broadcast, available on 670 The Score, SiriusXM and DePaul Blue Demons App.
Saturday's game marks the return to Hinkle Fieldhouse for a pair of former Butler head coaches in current DePaul head coach, Chris Holtmann, and DePaul Assistant Coach/General Manager Lavall Jordan. Holtmann was head coach at Butler from 2014-17, where he led the Bulldogs to the 2017 Sweet Sixteen, before Jordan took over the reins from 2017-22.
LAST TIME OUT
DePaul (10-10, 1-8 BIG EAST) faltered in a midweek contest against Creighton, 73-49. The Bluejays continued their hot streak, picking up the team's sixth win in its last seven contests. Layden Blocker was DePaul's leading scorer with 15 points while also adding three assists and three steals. CJ Gunn also joined Blocker in double-digits to mark five-straight games with 10 or more points.
The Blue Demons had a season-high 12 steals in Tuesday's contest, tying for the program's most in a game since Feb. 10, 2018.

Butler leads the all-time series 21-7, including 18 of the last 20 meetings between the two programs. DePaul's last win against the Bulldogs came at home on Jan. 18, 2020 in a 79-66 victory. The Blue Demons have only been victorious in Hinkle Fieldhouse on three occasions, most recently Jan. 9, 2014 in a double-overtime win.
SCOUTING BUTLER
Butler (8-11, 1-7 BIG EAST) is coming off a heartbreaking loss after pushing No. 19 UConn into overtime on Tuesday, before ultimately falling 80-78. Prior to the UConn defeat, Butler picked up its first conference win against Seton Hall on Jan. 15.
Jahmyl Telfort is Butler's leading scorer with 15.7 points per game, while also contributing 4.7 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 0.8 steals per game. Andre Screen is the team's leading rebounder, averaging 5.7 a game in addition to 1.5 blocks per game.
Thad Matta is in his third season of his return to Butler, also coaching the Bulldogs in the 2000-01 season.
