Blue Demons Head to Hinkle to Face Butler Sunday

Two teams meet for 29th time
CHICAGO – DePaul women's basketball hits the road for the final time in January with a trip down I-65 to visit Butler on Sunday, Jan. 26. Tipoff from Hinkle Fieldhouse is set for 1 p.m. CT with live coverage broadcast on the BIG EAST Digital Network via FloCollege.

Demon Doings
DePaul enters the weekend 10-11 and 5-3 in BIG EAST action after a 57-50 victory over Xavier on Wednesday night versus Xavier. After a slow start, the Blue Demons put together a 21-6 run midway through the game and weathered a late surge from the Musketeers.

Graduate forward Jorie Allen has been a consistent force inside for the Blue Demons, averaging a team-high 18.8 points per game. She has finished with 10+ points in all 21 games this season and her scoring average ranks third in the BIG EAST. She ranks third nationally in free throw attempts (159) and makes (133).

Taylor Johnson-Matthews has finished in double figures on 16 occasions in her first season in Chicago, ranking second on the team with 14.3 points per game. She has four 20-point games to her credit and has elevated her scoring average to 17.0 points in conference play which ranks seventh.

Junior guard Kate Clarke has been a welcomed return for the Blue Demons after missing the first two-and-a-half months of the season with a lower leg injury. She led DePaul with 15 points behind a trio of triples against Xavier.

The Blue Demons are getting to the free throw line more than most in the league with 15.6 attempts per game and 11.6 makes per game which both rank second in the BIG EAST. DePaul's average of 13.0 offensive boards leads the conference.

Butler Notes
The Bulldogs are 12-9 this season including a 2-6 record in conference action. Butler is coming off a 63-52 loss to RV/RV Creighton on Wednesday. Â

Senior guard Kilyn McGuff has paced the Bulldogs all season long with 11.3 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. McGuff has recorded eight double-doubles in her first season in Indianapolis.

As a team, Butler leads the league in bench points with 23.1 per game and free throw attempts with 18.1.

Austin Parkinson is in his third season at Butler and is 1-4 all-time against the Blue Demons including his time as the head coach of IUPUI.
