Record crowd expected for BIG EAST Showdown
CHICAGO – Expecting a record crowd on hand, DePaul women's basketball hosts sixth-ranked Connecticut on Wednesday, Jan. 29 at Wintrust Arena. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. with the game broadcast on SNY.

Demon Doings
DePaul enters the week on a two-game winning streak after picking up a pair of seven-point victories over Butler and Xavier. Â The Blue Demons are 11-11 overall and 6-3 in BIG EAST play.

Graduate forward Jorie Allen has been one of the top players in the league this season, averaging 19.5 points per game which ranks third. Allen has finished with 12 or more points in every single game for DePaul and her 22-game double figure streak ranks third most in program history. She is coming off a career-high 34-point performance against Butler where she played all 45 minutes and went 12-for-12 from the free throw line.

In just her fourth game back after sustaining an injury on Oct. 28, Kate Clarke dropped in 13 points versus the Bulldogs including 10 in the second half and overtime. She is averaging 10.8 points per game in her four appearances.

DePaul ranks second in the conference in rebounds with 36.8 per game and paces the pack in offensive-boards with an average of 13.1 per outing. Redshirt junior Meg Newman has grabbed seven or more rebounds in 18 games this season and is fourth in the BIG EAST with 7.9 per game.

The Blue Demons face their fifth ranked opponent of the season on Wednesday and fourth in the top 10 after a rigorous non-conference schedule including then-No. 4 Texas, No. 8 Oklahoma, No. 9 Kansas State and No. 24 Michigan State.

Connecticut is 19-2 this season and a perfect 10-0 in BIG EAST play after knocking off previously unbeaten Creighton 72-61 on Saturday afternoon.

The tandem of Paige Bueckers and Sarah Strong has paced the Huskies with 19.6 and 17.6 points per game, respectively. Bueckers ranks fifth nationally in assist to turnover ratio at 3.3 while Strong leads the BIG EAST in field-goal percentage at a 58-percent clip.

Geno Auriemma is in his 40th season at the helm of the UConn program and is the all-time winningest coach in NCAA Division I basketball.
