Blue Demons Fall in Road Tilt

VILLANOVA, PA. – DePaul men's basketball fell in a BIG EAST road contest, 100-56, to Villanova Saturday afternoon. The Blue Demons were led in scoring by Jacob Meyer for the fourth time this season as he notched 13 points. Meyer was joined in double-digit scoring by three other Blue Demons including 11 second-half points from Isaiah Rivera who made three-straight three point attempts. Layden Blocker and NJ Benson also contributed 10 points each.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Villanova (10-5, 3-1 BIG EAST) jumped to an early lead to open the game, holding the Blue Demons scoreless for the first four minutes. Meyer put DePaul on the board with a trio of free throws before Blocker notched the Blue Demons first field goal as the Wildcats held an 18-5 advantage. DePaul's (9-6, 0-4 BIG EAST) offense started to pick up as Meyer drained a pair of threes and the Blue Demons made three-straight field goals, however, they could not get a defensive stop as the deficit sat a 37-20. The Blue Demons got a late run to close out the half with nine unanswered points before 'Nova's Eric Dixon notched a three. The Wildcats controlled the entirety of the second half as DePaul couldn't find an answer.

- Conor Enright was injured early in the first half and after initially returning did not play in the second half.
- CJ Gunn tied a personal-best four rebounds.
- David Thomas played a season-high 15 minutes.
- Benson notched his third-straight game in double-digit scoring, matching a personal-best streak of three games.
