DePaul Visits St. John’s Tuesday for Tilt on FS1

Blue Demons and Red Storm square off in Queens
QUEENS, N.Y. – DePaul women's basketball returns to the court on Tuesday, Jan. 7 with a BIG EAST matchup against St. John's inside Carnesecca Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT. with coverage aired live on FS1.

Demon Doings
Amid a stretch of three road trips in four games, the Blue Demons are 7-9 and 2-1 in BIG EAST play. Last time out, DePaul claimed a 65-60 win over Xavier at the Cintas Center for its first league road win of the season.
Junior guard Taylor Johnson-Matthews has been on a tear lately, averaging 21.6 points in conference games which ranks second among all players. The Cleveland, Ohio native recorded a career-high 24 points to go with five rebounds, four assists, two blocks and two steals against the Musketeers. She has finished in double-figures in eight-straight games and has been on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor three-consecutive weeks.
Jorie Allen has been a steadying force for the Blue Demons, finishing with 10+ points in all 16 games this season with an average of 18.81 points per game which is third in the league.
Her stretch of 16-consecutive games in double figures is tied for the sixth-longest streak in program history alongside former standout Lexi Held. The graduate forward is adding 6.3 rebounds and a team-high 3.6 assists per game.
Meg Newman has come on strong in conference action posting 13.3 points and 8.3 rebounds through three games. Her rebounding average is fifth in league for a team that is leading the conference in rebounds with 40 per game.
St. John's Notes
The Red Storm are 10-4 this season including an 0-3 mark in conference action with defeats at the hands of Villanova, Creighton and most recently Providence.
Miami transfer Lashae Dwyer has paced the Johnnies all season long with 15.4 points per game to go along with her team-best 3.0 assists and 3.0 steals per contest.
SJU is top 15 in Division I in scoring defense, limiting teams to an average of 53.9 points per game.
Joe Tartamella, in his 13th season at the helm in Queens, led his program to a 10-1 start in non- conference action. The Red Storm were picked to finish fourth in the conference's preseason coaches' poll.
Series Stuff
DePaul owns the series with St. John's by a margin of 25-8; however, the Red Storm have won the last three meetings. The Blue Demons are 11-3 in games played in Queens.
The teams squared off just once a season ago, an 83-77 triumph for the Johnnies. Allen had a10-point and 10-rebound double-double in the setback.
DePaul is 10-5 against the Red Storm in games played in the month of January.
