Men’s Soccer Visits Conference Foe Marquette Saturday Night

Blue Demons and Golden Eagles kick off at 7pm in Mikwaukee
CHICAGO – DePaul men's soccer plays its penultimate road game of the regular season Saturday, Oct. 25 with a short trip north to take on longtime BIG EAST rival Marquette. First touch from Valley Fields is set for 7 p.m. with live coverage carried on ESPN+.
Demon Doings
DePaul sits at 2-6-6 overall and 0-4-1 in BIG EAST play, still seeking its first conference win as the stretch run of the regular season continues. The Blue Demons are coming off a hard-fought 3-0 setback against No. 18 Georgetown, where they held their own in possession and limited one of the league's top attacks for much of the match. Despite the record, DePaul has battled through tight contests with eight matches decided by one goal or fewer, including six draws on the season.
The Blue Demons rank among the most active attacking teams in the nation, averaging 15.4 shots per match and 6.6 corner kicks per game — both marks inside the national top 20. DePaul has outshot opponents in 10 of 14 contests, posting a 216–168 advantage in total attempts. Noeh Hernandez continues to generate chances, pacing the team with 44 shots and 15 on frame, while Joon Han and Luca Iaccino have each scored twice. Sophomore Daniel Hickiewicz and freshman Jordan Clagette have also found the net this season, and Jayden Waski leads the team with four assists, contributing to a quarter of DePaul's goals.
DePaul has earned nearly double the corner kicks of its opponents (92–52), demonstrating sustained attacking pressure in the final third. The Blue Demons have converted three of four penalty opportunities while opponents have been limited to just one. In goal, redshirt-junior Santiago Davila has made 32 saves in 10 starts, recording a .653 save percentage.
Scouting Marquette
The Golden Eagles are 6-5-2 on the season and 0-5 in league play. In its last outing, Marquette took down Division III opponent Edgewood 2-0 to snap a two-game losing streak. Sophomore forward Mads Konrad Horgoien has a team-best five goals on the season. As a team, the Golden Eagles have own 23 assists on 21 goals this season. David Korn is in his second season leading the program at Marquette.
Series Stuff
Saturday's match is the 38th between the two sides with Marquette holding a 30-7-3 edge. The programs have drawn in the last two meeting with DePaul claiming its last win in the series Oct. 19, 2022.
Last season in a 2-2 draw, the Blue Demons trailed on two occasions and responded each time with Noeh Hernandez bringing DePaul level with a goal in the 17th minute before Liam Mullins scored in the 82nd minute to secure a point for the scarlet and blue.
The Golden Eagles have maintained a strong presence at home throughout the years with a 17-1-1 record in Milwaukee.
