DePaul Tips Off WellNow Blue Demon Classic Friday vs. Grambling

Blue Demons host three teams for weekend tournament in Chicago
CHICAGO – DePaul women's basketball returns to Wintrust Arena this weekend to host the WellNow Blue Demon Classic presented by Physicians Immediate Care, now a part of WellNow Urgent Care, welcoming a field of Grambling State, Campbell, and Northern Colorado for a two-day multi-team event Nov. 21–22.
The Blue Demons open play on Friday at 5:30 p.m. CT, squaring off with Grambling State in the nightcap following the tournament's first matchup between Northern Colorado and Campbell. DePaul's game will stream live on ESPN+ with DePaul alum Kat Harry and Max Thoma on the call.
Tournament action continues Saturday with the winners of Friday's contests advance to the championship game at 5:30 p.m., while the losers will meet in the consolation game at 3 p.m.

Demon Doings
DePaul returns to Wintrust Arena looking to snap a three-game skid after dropping a road battle versus Northwestern Monday afternoon. Despite a slow start, the Blue Demons placed four starters in double figures and showed continued growth early in the season.
Junior guard Kate Novik has made an immediate impact for DePaul, leading the team with 17.2 points per game while shooting 46-percent from the field and 40-percent from three-point range. Versus the Wildcats Novik finished with a team-best 18 points in addition to nine rebounds, five
Sophomore Natiah Nelson continues to shine with an average of 15.2 points and a team-leading 8.78 rebounds per game while shooting 59-percent from the field. Nelson is grabbing 2.5 steals per game.
DePaul's defensive intensity continues to define the team's early-season identity. The Blue Demons are forcing opponents into 22.8 turnovers per game while averaging 5.0 blocks per game as a team.
The Blue Demons rank top-25 nationally in assist to turnover ratio at a 1.44 mark while their turnover margin of 9.75 is 23rd in Division I.
Scouting Grambling State
Grambling State is 1-4 on the season and is coming off an 85-64 loss at Arizona on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers have played four of their first five games away from home. Monica Marsh leads GSU with 13.8 points per game while Shaniah Nunn is nearly averaging a double-double behind 10.4 points and 9.0 rebounds per contest. As a team, the Tigers are averaging over 18 offensive rebounds per game. Courtney Simmons is in her third season guiding the program.
Scouting Campbell
Campbell is 3-2 on the season and have won three-consecutive games after a 68-61 win over Furman last time out. The Fighting Camels have four players averaging 10 or more points through the first five games of the season led by sophomore guard Jasmine Felton with 13.2 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. Ronny Fisher is in his 10th season leading the program in Buies Creek.
Scouting Northern Colorado
Northern Colorado is 3-1 on the season and coming its first loss of the season, a 56-53 setback to Denver. The Bears will be venturing away from their home venue for the first time all season this weekend. will be the Bears' first contest outside their home arena. Sophomore guard Neenah George is averaging a team-best 14.8 points while junior forward Tatum West bolsters the front court with 8.8 rebounds per game to go along with 9.5 points. Kristen Mattio is in her fifth season leading the program.
Series Stuff
DePaul and Grambling State will meet for the first time in program history this weekend. A meeting between the Blue Demons and Campbell would also be the first matchup between the two schools. Northern Colorado leads the limited series with DePaul, as the lone meeting came at Wintrust Arena in November 2017, a 94–88 Bears victory.
