Blue Demons and Tigers tangle at 12 p.m. CT
PRINCETON, N.J. – DePaul women's basketball closes out the month of November with its toughest test to date, a matchup at Princeton Sunday afternoon. Tipoff from Jadwin Gymnasium is set for 12 p.m. CT with the game streaming on ESPN+.
Demon Doings
DePaul (2-5) returns to action Sunday seeking to rebound from a 61-49 defeat to Loyola Chicago on Wednesday. The Blue Demons will look to re-stablish an offensive rhythm after being held to a season low in points in back-to-back contests. Kate Novik and Natiah Nelson average double figures for the Blue Demons, posting 15.4 points and 11.7 points per game, respectively. Novik's scoring average ranks fifth among BIG EAST players while she also leads the team in assists (4.0 apg) and blocks (1.3 bpg).
Sharing the ball continues to be a bright spot for DePaul's offensive with an average of 19.3 assists per game which ranks 19th in Division I. In their last four games, the Blue Demons have dished out 82 assists on 97 made field which is good for an 85-percent assist rate. On the defensive end of the ball, DePaul is forcing 22.2 turnovers per game and have totaled five games this season with 20 or more opponent miscues. Redshirt-freshman Alayna West leads the BIG EAST with 19 steals through the first month of the season.
Scouting Princeton
The Tigers are 6-1 on the season with their lone loss coming to then-No. 9 Maryland in the second week of the season. Senior guard Madison St. Rose is averaging a team-best 18.1 points per game on 48-percent shooting from the field while backcourt mate Fadima Tall is adding 15.3 points per game and a team-high 8.0 rebounds per contest. The Tigers take extreme care of the ball, committing just 12.6 turnovers per game which ranks 24th in the nation and leads the Ivy League. Carla Berube is in her sixth season leading the Princeton program.
Series Stuff
The Blue Demons lead the all-time series with the Tigers, 3-1. Princeton won last season's matchup with a 79-58 victory at Wintrust Arena. The teams have met at Jadwin Gymnasium just once, a 78-67 DePaul win on December 13, 2011.
DePaul is 10-1 all-time versus Ivy League programs.
