Blue Demons honor seniors in final home match
CHICAGO – DePaul volleyball couldn't hold off a strong St. John's (9-18, 5-9 BIG EAST) team Saturday at McGrath-Phillips Arena as the Blue Demons fell, 3-1, in the team's final home match of the season. DePaul moves to 13-12 on the season and 6-8 in BIG EAST play.
Kendall Timme led DePaul with 13 kills on .300 hitting for her 17th double-digit kill match of the season. Katelynn Oxley was the Blue Demons next highest with nine kills, in addition to four blocks. Amanda Saeger tallied 35 assists while Abby Cahill had a match-high 15 digs.
"St. John's got hotter as the match went on," said head coach Marie Zidek. "They killed a lot of balls in both phases of the game and we just could not keep up today. St. John's matched with their serve and exposed us in receive. A lot of maturity gained in this match, and we will continue to learn from these matches moving forward."
