Demon Doings
DePaul (3-10, 0-2 BIG EAST) resumes action after a 77–67 setback to UIC on Wednesday in its non-conference finale. Junior guard Shakara McCline led the Blue Demons in scoring for the second straight game, pouring in a career-high 25 points. McCline has gone 8-for-19 (.421) from three-point range over her last two contests. Ally Timm added double figures for the third time this season.
As a team, DePaul dished out 20 assists for the fifth time this season, led by Devin Hagemann (6) and Natiah Nelson (5). The Blue Demons are averaging 17.2 assists per game, ranking fourth in the BIG EAST.
Against the Flames, DePaul pulled down 18 offensive rebounds and converted them into 24 second-chance points. The Blue Demons rank in the top half of the conference with 14.4 offensive rebounds per game.
Scouting Creighton
The new-look Bluejays enter the weekend at 5-5 overall after a loss to Kansas State and a road win over Omaha in the past week. In their BIG EAST opener on Dec. 4, Creighton earned a 60–52 road victory at St. John's.
Youth has driven Creighton's offense, with freshmen Neleigh Gessert and Ava Zedkiker averaging 12.5 and 12.2 points per game, respectively. Northern Iowa transfer Grace Boffeli leads the team on the glass at 8.2 rebounds per game, ranking fourth in the BIG EAST. Creighton was picked to finish fifth in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll. Head coach Jim Flanery is in his 24th season leading the program.
Series Stuff
DePaul holds a 16-12 advantage in the all-time series and will look to snap a six-game skid against the Bluejays on Saturday. Creighton swept last season's series, with both wins coming by double-digit margins. DePaul is 8-5 all-time in games played in Omaha.
