Two sides tipoff Monday at 6 p.m. in the South Loop

CHICAGO – DePaul women's basketball wraps up the calendar year Monday evening, hosting Villanova in a BIG EAST matchup at Wintrust Arena. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. CT with Dorian Craft (play-by-play) and Doug Bruno (analyst) on the call for ESPN+. Tickets to Monday evening's contest are still available here.

Demon Doings
The Blue Demons look to close out the year on a high note after a challenging stretch that has seen DePaul drop eight of its last nine contests, including a 70-50 setback at Creighton before the holiday break. Against the Bluejays, DePaul showed flashes early, leading by as many as 12 in the second quarter before falling to 3-11 on the season and 0-3 in BIG EAST play.

Junior guard Kate Novik continued her steady production, finishing in double figures for the ninth time this season with a team-high 11 points to go along with nine rebounds. The Grodno, Belarus, native leads the Blue Demons in scoring (12.0 ppg), rebounding (6.8 rpg) and assists (3.5 apg).

DePaul has also seen a notable boost from its bench in December, averaging 40 points per game from its reserves compared to 18 bench points per contest in November.
Redshirt freshman Alayna West has been impactful on both ends of the floor, collecting 35 steals on the season, second-most among BIG EAST players. Her six takeaways at Creighton marked the most by a Blue Demon this season.

Scouting Villanova
The Wildcats are 10-2 on the season having won eight in a row en route to an unblemished 3-0 record in BIG EAST play. Junior guard Jasmine Bascoe leads the BIG EAST in scoring with an average of 18.4 points per game in addition to a team-best 4.4 assists per contest. Villanova has shared the ball extremely well this season with its 19.8 assists per game ranking 13th nationally and second in the conference. Denise Dillon is in her sixth season leading her alma mater.

Series Stuff
The Blue Demons own a 20-15 edge in the series with the Wildcats including a 13-4 mark in games played in Chicago. Villanova has won the last eight meetings with DePaul's most recent victory coming Jan. 14, 2022. VU's margin of victory in the eight-game streak is just 8.7 points.
