Demon Doings
DePaul (2-6) returns to action Thursday seeking to bounce back from a 71-41 defeat to Loyola Chicago on Wednesday. The Blue Demons look to reset when stepping into conference play on the offensive end of the floor after being held to a season low in points in three-consecutive games.
In BIG EAST openers DePaul is 16-4 (.800) since joining the conference prior to the 2005-06 season. The Blue Demons have won their first game in league play six seasons in a row. Creighton was the last team to beat DePaul in the first game of the conference season, Dec. 29, 2018.
Kate Novik and Natiah Nelson average double figures for the Blue Demons, posting 14.2 points and 10.5 points per game, respectively. Novik's scoring average ranks eighth among BIG EAST players while she also leads the team in assists (3.5 apg) and blocks (1.1 bpg). She has scored in double figures in six of eight games this season.
In their last five games, the Blue Demons have dished out 92 assists on 112 made field which is good for an 82-percent assist rate while on the defensive end of the ball, DePaul is forcing 21.6 turnovers per game and have totaled five games this season with 20 or more opponent miscues.
