DePaul Drops Road Game at No. 1 UConn

Davorija and Hagemann lead the Blue Demons with eight points apiece
STORRS, Conn. – DePaul women's basketball fell to top-ranked UConn 102-35 Sunday afternoon inside Gampel Pavilion. The Blue Demons were held to a season-low in points while the No. 1 Huskies shot 63-percent from the floor including a 66-percent clip from long range.
Freshman guard Gina Davorijia led the Blue Demons with a career-high eight points while Devin Hagemann added a season-high eight points of her own.
DePaul (2-8, 0-2 BIG EAST) committed a season-high 32 turnovers in which the Huskies turned into 52 points.
UConn's Sarah Strong had a game-high 20 points as the Huskies improved to 9-0 on the season and 2-0 in league play.
How It Happened
The Huskies started the game on a 14-0 run before Novik's drive to the basket earned DePaul their first field goal of the outing. Newman grabbed five rebounds and went 3-for-4 from the free throw line in the opening period as the Blue Demons trailed 28-9 after 10 minutes.
UConn outscored DePaul 23-3 to begin the second quarter before Ally Timm hit back-to-back triples to provide an offensive spark. The Huskies led 58-18 at the break.
Davorijia scored 8 of DePaul's 13 third-quarter points while the Huskies continued their hot shooting, connecting on 66-percent of attempts to take an 81-31 advantage into the final quarter.
DePaul was held to just four fourth-quarter points as UConn claimed their 27th-straight victory in the series between the two teams.
