DePaul Hosts Villanova Wednesday in Annual Play4Kay Game

Blue Demons and Wildcats tipoff at 7 pm from Wintrust Arena
CHICAGO – DePaul women's basketball returns home to Wintrust Arena to host Villanova on Wednesday, Feb. 12. Tipoff for the program's annual Play4Kay game is set for 7 p.m. CT with live coverage broadcast live on FloCollege.

Through a partnership with the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, DePaul is set to celebrate the legacy of the legendary NC State head coach who sought to rally communities together to support women impacted by all cancers.

The Blue Demons will honor cancer survivors and warriors throughout the game presentation including in team introductions as well as during a special halftime ceremony. Survivors can claim up to four tickets to the contest by using code PLAY4KAY at DePaulBlueDemons.com/Promo.

Additionally, DePaul will wear special pink uniforms Wednesday night with fans encouraged to don their own pink as well. Â Spectators can support DePaul's fundraiser for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund by clicking here.

DePaul enters the week 12-14 on the season and 7-6 in BIG EAST games after a gutsy 80-76 victory over Georgetown on Sunday afternoon in the nation's capital. In the win against the Hoyas, graduate forward Jorie Allen led the Blue Demons with 31 points behind a 17-for-18 output from the free throw line while junior guard Taylor Johnson-Matthews added 21 points including 14 in the second half. DePaul finished the game on an 8-2 run.

Allen has proved to be one of the best players in the league this season, finishing in double figures in all 26 games and averaging 18.75 points per game in conference contests which ranks first among all players. The Bedford, Ind. native has made 174 free throws in her final collegiate campaign which is third in Division I. She is 10 makes away from tying the program single-season record.

Johnson-Matthews has made an immediate impact this season, averaging 17.5 points per game in conference contests and posting six 20-point outings through 13 league games.

As a team, DePaul leads the BIG EAST in offensive rebounds with 13.5 per game. The Blue Demons own a +65 margin on second chance points this season. Â Â

Villanova has won three of its last four games and ranks fifth in the BIG EAST standings with an overall record of 13-11 and 7-5 mark in league play. On Saturday, the Wildcats fell to Creighton 70-57 in the lone meeting between the two teams this season. Freshman guard Jasmine Bascoe leads the 'Cats in scoring with 16.0 points per game in addition to a league-best 4.5 assists per game. Villanova shoots the three-ball at an efficient 35.3-percent clip with four of five starters knocking down 29 or more this season. Denise Dillon is in her fifth season leading her alma mater.

DePaul will look for its first win against the Wildcats since January of 2022 on Wednesday. Villanova has won the last seven meetings between the two programs while the Blue Demons hold a 20-14 edge in the overall series. In games played in Chicago, DePaul is 13-3.

In the first matchup this season, Villanova earned a 66-55 victory inside Finneran Pavilion on Jan. 12. The Wildcats used a 14-2 run to start the fourth quarter to hand DePaul its second BIG EAST loss of the season. Allen had a game-high 20 points for the Blue Demons while Jasmine Bascoe and Maddie Webber had 18 points apiece for Villanova.
