CHICAGO – In a tightly-contested matchup, DePaul women's basketball fell to Villanova, 62-56 on Wednesday night at Wintrust Arena. A two-point game heading into the fourth quarter, the Blue Demons struggled to score in crunch-time and couldn't overcome a slow start.
Graduate student Jorie Allen paced the Blue Demons in scoring with 23 points on 50-percent shooting from the field to go with five rebounds. It was her 13th 20-point outing of the season while extending her double-figure scoring stretch to 27-straight games which is the fifth-longest active streak in Division I.
In 26 minutes off the bench, junior guard Kate Clarke contributed 12 points on 5-for-10 shooting for her third outing in double figures this season.
DePaul (12-15, 7-7 BIG EAST) outrebounded the Wildcats 41-34 and grabbed 10 or more offensive boards for the 22nd this season. Freshman guard Natiah Nelson grabbed career-bests with seven rebounds and three blocks in her second-straight start.
Villanova (14-11, 8-5) was led by sophomore guard Maddie Webber who had a career-high 30 points.
