Blue Demons face first of two home contests this week
CHICAGO – In its first of two home contests this week, DePaul men's basketball hosts tenth-ranked St. John's Wednesday evening at Wintrust Arena. The game is slated for an 8 p.m. tip on FS1 with Chris Vosters and Stephen Bardo on the call. Zach Zaidman and Dave Corzine will have DePaul's radio broadcast on 670 The Score.
LAST TIME OUT
DePaul (11-15, 2-13 BIG EAST) faced a road battle against Xavier Saturday, ultimately falling 85-68. The Blue Demons were led by CJ Gunn who recorded his 11th-straight game with 10 or more points. Gunn shot 7-of-12 in addition to three rebounds and two steals. He was joined in double-digit scoring by Layden Blocker who tallied 12 points. Théo Pierre-Justin also had a career game, playing a season-high 18 minutes with eight points and three rebounds.
As a team, DePaul brought its season total to 244 made three-pointers. The mark currently ranks third all-time in single-season at DePaul and is 29 off the all-time record set in 2022-23.
THE SERIES
St. John's leads the all-time series 33-22, however, it is tied at 11 apiece in games played at DePaul. The Red Storm won the first meeting between the two programs earlier this season, 89-61.
SCOUTING ST. JOHN'S
St. John's (22-4, 13-2 BIG EAST) sits alone atop the BIG EAST standings, despite dropping a road contest against Villanova last week. The Jonnies had an immediate rebound with a win over top-25 Creighton on Sunday.
The Red Storm's defense has been a mainstay this season as St. John's leads the BIG EAST and ranks top-10 in blockers per game and rebounds per game. RJ Luis Jr. leads the team with 17.6 points per game, followed by Zuby Ejiofor with 13.9. Eijofor is also the team's leading rebounder and ranks second nationally with 4.27 offensive rebounds per game.

DePaul continues this week at home with a Saturday contest against Butler. The game is slated for a 7 p.m. tip on FS1. The game is DePaul's annual throwback night and includes a halftime jersey retirement presentation for All-American, Dave Corzine.
