Blue Demons Welcome 23rd-Ranked Creighton to Wintrust Arena Sunday Afternoon

DePaul and Creighton tipoff at 2 p.m. from Wintrust Arena
CHICAGO – DePaul women's basketball returns to the court for the first time in a week on Sunday, Feb. 23 when 23rd-ranked Creighton visits town. Tipoff from Wintrust Arena is scheduled for 2 p.m. CT with live coverage on FloCollege.

The Blue Demons will look to pick up their first ranked win of the season in its sixth attempt on Sunday.

DePaul is coming off its bye week and looks to finish the regular season strong after dropping five of its last six contests and sitting at 12-16 on the season and 7-8 in league play. Last time out, the Blue Demons dropped an 82-72 matchup at Marquette in a game that saw 14 lead changes and 13 ties. Against the Golden Eagles, graduate forward Jorie Allen had a team-high 22 points on 66-percent shooting from the field. Kate Clarke and Shakara McCline combined for 27 points off the bench.

Allen is averaging a league-best 20.0 points per game in conference games and has finished in double figures in all 28 games this season. In her last outing, Allen set DePaul's single-season free throw record with 185 makes on 221 attempts (.837). Her total made ranks third in Division I.

Taylor Johnson-Matthews has been DePaul's most consistent three-point threat this season, shooting 35-percent from long range and ranking second on the squad with 14.4 points per game. Clarke has finished in double figures in four of her seven appearances this season and is averaging 11.1 points per game.

DePaul leads the BIG EAST with 13.4 offensive rebounds per game and is +73 on the season in second chance points.

Creighton is 22-4 this season and 14-1 in league play having won six-straight games including a 65-62 come from behind victory over St. John's on Wednesday. Seniors Lauren Jensen and Morgan Maly lead the veteran laden Bluejays with 17.9 and 17.6 points per game, respectively. As a team, Creighton ranks fifth nationally in assist to turnover ratio at 1.60.

Sunday's meeting will be the 28th all-time between DePaul and Creighton. The Blue Demons lead the all-time series 16-11 with the Bluejays taking seven of the last eight meetings including a 92-71 victory in the first matchup between the two squads this season.

Allen had a team-high 22 points on 53-percent shooting at Creighton on Jan. 18 while McCline (12) and freshman guard Angelina Smith (11) also finished in double figures. The Blue Demons led by two after the first quarter.
