DePaul looks to snap five-game skid
OMAHA, NEB. – DePaul men's basketball team returns to the road for its first away contest in over 10 days as the Blue Demons are set to take on Creighton, Wednesday, Feb. 26. The game is slated for an 8 p.m. tip on Peacock with Justin Kutcher and Nick Bahe on the call. Zach Zaidman and Dave Corzine will have DePaul's radio broadcast on Sirius XM and the DePaul Blue Demons App.
LAST TIME OUT
DePaul (11-17, 2-15 BIG EAST) clawed back from a double-digit deficit to take a second-half lead against Butler on Saturday at home, but ultimately fell, 84-72. The Blue Demons were led by Layden Blocker's 23 points and Isaiah Rivera's double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
The Blue Demons had just four turnovers in the game, its fewest in a game since March 5, 2022 and fewest at home since the opening game of Wintrust Arena on Nov. 11, 2017.
THE SERIES
Creighton leads the all-time series 31-16, including a 73-49 victory earlier this season at Wintrust Arena. The Bluejays are 13-6 in the series at home.
In the first meeting this season, DePaul made a season-low three three-pointers as they couldn't get past Creighton in the midst of a nine-game win streak.
SCOUTING CREIGHTON
The Bluejays come into Wednesday's contest looking for their 20th win of the season as they sit in second place in the BIG EAST. Creighton is 13-2 at home this season, dropping its second home game recently on Feb. 11 to UConn. Creighton is coming off a Sunday home victory against Georgetown where they won 80-69 behind a near triple-double from Jamiya Neal.
Creighton leads the nation with fewest fouls per game, averaging just 11. The Bluejays are also among the top-25 nationally in assists per game, blocks per game and defensive rebounds per game. Steven Ashworth leads the BIG EAST conference with 7.0 assists per game, while leading scorer Ryan Kalkbrenner is second in the league with 18.7 points per game and leads the conference with 2.81 blocks per game.
