DePaul Hosts St. John’s Sunday in Regular Season Finale

Blue Demons to honor graduating senior Jorie Allen prior to the game
CHICAGO – DePaul women's basketball is set to welcome St. John's to Wintrust Arena on Sunday, March 2 for the final game of the BIG EAST regular season. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. CT with live coverage carried on FloCollege.
Fans are encouraged to arrive early as the Blue Demons will honor lone graduating senior and cornerstone of the program Jorie Allen prior to the contest. Single-game tickets for Sunday's BIG EAST showdown are available here.
DePaul (12-18, 7-10 BIG EAST) looks to begin the month of March on a high note after dropping four of its last five games including a 76-67 setback at Seton Hall on Thursday evening. Despite holding a lead after the first quarter, the Blue Demons couldn't maintain find an offensive rhythm throughout the game even with three players in double figures. Graduate Jorie Allen finished with a team-best 21 points behind a 13-for-14 performance from the free throw line while Kate Clarke chipped in a season-high 18 points on 4-for-8 shooting from distance. Taylor Johnson-Matthews rounded out the trio in double figures with 12 points. Redshirt-junior Meg Newman collected 13 rebounds for the second-consecutive game.
Allen is leading the BIG EAST in scoring with 20.2 points per game, having finished in double figures in all 30 games this season and posting a conference-best 16 outings of 20 or more points. Her 202 free throws this season is third in Division I while her 240 attempts are second nationally. Johnson-Matthews is averaging 16.8 points per game in league play while shooting 38-percent from long range.
The Blue Demons have seen a great amount of production from the free throw line, leading the BIG EAST as a team with 17.7 attempts per game and converting on 12.6 per outing, also a league-best.
St. John's (15-13, 5-12 BIG EAST) enters the final weekend coming off an 83-49 win over Georgetown on Wednesday evening. Trailing by 15 at halftime, the Red Storm outscored the Hoyas 54-15 in the second half to pick up their fifth league win of the season. Backcourt tandem Lashae Dwyer and Ber'Nyah Mayo lead St. John's in scoring with 13.8 and 10.8 points per game, respectively. The Johnnies are limiting opponents to just 56.0 points per game, a scoring defense that ranks top-25 nationally.
In the postseason picture, DePaul is locked into the six seed in the 2025 BIG EAST Tournament and will face No. 11 Xavier on Friday, March 7 at Mohegan Sun Arena. St. John's can earn the No. 7 or No. 8 seed depending on results around the league on the final day of the regular season.
The Blue Demons lead the all-time series 26-8 and have won 14 of the last 17 meetings with the Red Storm. In games played in Chicago, DePaul is 11-5.
In the first meeting of the season, DePaul claimed a 67-60 come from behind victory inside Carnesecca Arena. The Blue Demons turned a seven-point deficit into a seven-point win behind 23 points from Johnson-Matthews and a 19-point, six-assist effort from Allen.
