Blue Demons close out home slate
CHICAGO – DePaul men's basketball is set for its regular-season finale Saturday, March 8 as they play host to the Georgetown Hoyas. The game is set for a 1 p.m. tip on FS1 with Chris Vosters and LaPhonso Ellis on the call. Zach Zaidman and Dave Corzine will have the radio call on 670 The Score.
LAST TIME OUT
DePaul (12-18, 3-16 BIG EAST) picked up a road win at Providence for the first time in seven years with an 80-77 win on Wednesday. The Blue Demons were led by a pair of career highs from CJ Gunn and JJ Traynor who scored 23 and 21, respectively. DePaul came back from as large as a 16-point deficit to take the win down the stretch.
The Blue Demons broke the program single-season three-point record during the game, hitting 280 on the season to break the previous record of 273 from 2022-23.
THE SERIES
Georgetown leads the all-time series 35-15, including a 16-7 record in Chicago. The Blue Demons won the first meeting between the two schools earlier this season in Washington, D.C., 73-68. In that meeting, the Blue Demons shot 46.7 percent from three and were led by CJ Gunn with 16 points and NJ Benson's 12 points and seven rebounds off the bench.
SCOUTING GEORGETOWN
Georgetown (17-13, 8-11 BIG EAST) is coming off a 75-73 home win against Villanova on Tuesday, after dropping three BIG EAST games prior. The Hoyas are led by Micah Peavy 16.5 points and 2.4 steals per game. Peavy also leads the conference and ranks ninth nationally in steals per game. Peavy is the Hoyas leading remaining rebounder after freshman Thomas Sorber suffered a season ending injury. Malik Mack and Peavy average 4.5 and 3.6 assists, respectively, to lead the team.
