Goncharov, Nobbs lead Blue Demons’ senior class
CHICAGO – The Scarlet and Blue return to Chicago for their final regular season contest, battling the Milwaukee Panthers on Friday, April 11. The Senior Day match is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. CT at XS Tennis Village.
Eva Goncharov and Eleanor Nobbs head the 2025 senior class for the Blue Demons. Goncharov totaled a 26-14 singles and 33-12 doubles record in two seasons at DePaul. Nobbs earned a 2024 All-BIG EAST Second Team selection, eclipsing 58 singles wins and playing to a 47-42 clip in doubles throughout her four-year Blue Demon career.
DePaul holds an 8-0 record versus the Panthers, with the last meeting coming in 2018. In 26 all-time matches against current Horizon League opponents, the Blue Demons claimed 24 victories.
DePaul (9-10, 4-4 BIG EAST) fell to UConn and Villanova on the road last weekend. Sophomore Sasha Stula recorded her 10th singles win of the dual campaign against the Huskies. Goncharov added a victory on court three, but the Blue Demons could not stop the UConn attack in a 5-2 loss. The Scarlet and Blue remained in Storrs, Connecticut, facing Villanova on Saturday, April 5. The No. 1 doubles tandem of Goncharov and Hannah Smith clinched the opening point. In singles, Goncharov swiftly defeated Olivia Corcoran, 6-1, 6-0, after moving up to slot two. The Wildcats roared back, securing courts one, three, four and five, with three matches needing a seven-point tiebreaker to decide the set. Eleanor Cochran received a start in slot six, besting the Wildcats' Maddie Hills, 7-6 (4), 6-1.
Milwaukee (6-13, 0-3 Horizon) enters play on a seven-match skid. The Panthers began last weekend with a 5-2 loss to Youngstown State on the road before falling 6-1 at Cleveland State a day later. Emilia Durska leads the team with eight dual season wins this season. Head coach Mark Goldin is in his second season in Milwaukee, following a tenure at Cardinal Stritch University from 2013 to 2021.
