Blue Demons Host Seton Hall Saturday Afternoon

CHICAGO – DePaul women's basketball returns home to Wintrust Arena to host Seton Hall Saturday, Jan. 17 at 2 p.m. The contest will stream live on ESPN+ with Dorian Craft and Doug Bruno on the call.

Demon Doings
Nearing the midway point of the conference slate, the Blue Demons look to rebound from a 71-61 setback at Xavier Tuesday evening. Against the Musketeers, DePaul shot 66 percent in the opening quarter but was unable to withstand a fourth-quarter onslaught in which Xavier outscored DePaul 29–8 in the final period.
Against Xavier, Redshirt freshman Alayna West posted a team-high 12 points for her fourth double-figure scoring game of the season. West also recorded five steals, marking her eighth game this year with three or more takeaways. Ally Timm joined West in double figures with 11 points on 3-of-7 shooting from distance. Timm's 39 triples this season leads DePaul. Graduate forward Michelle Ojo scored 10 of her 12 points in the second half and went 5-for-6 from the field to earn her fifth double-figure scoring performance of the season.
DePaul (4-15, 1-7 BIG EAST) has been strong on the glass of late, outrebounding each of its last four opponents, including a narrow 38–36 edge against Xavier. DePaul's 13.9 offensive rebounds per game leads the conference. The Blue Demons have totaled 15 or more offensive boards in eight games this season.
The Blue Demons reserves have also played a key factor, averaging 24.6 points per game to rank third in the BIG EAST. DePaul holds a +56 scoring margin over its opponents in bench points this season.
Scouting Seton Hall
The Pirates are 12-5 on the season and 6-2 in conference play after taking down Marquette 64-61 Wednesday evening in come from behind fashion. Seton Hall has four of its five starters averaging double figures led by junior guard Savannah Catalon and her 13.4 points per game. Florida State transfer Mariana Valenzuela is averaging 13.2 points and a team-high 7.5 rebounds per game. The Hall leads the league in rebounding with 39.8 rebounds per game. Tony Bozzella is in his 13th season leading the Pirates program.
Series Stuff
Saturday's matchup is the 37th all-time meeting between the two programs with the Blue Demons owning a 25-11 advantage in the series. Seton Hall has won six of the last seven games with DePaul's last win coming on Feb. 15, 2023 at Wintrust Arena. The Blue Demons are 12-6 in the series on their home court.
